Welcome to Steel City News. Why do Pittsburghers use the word Nebby? And where does it come from? Other than Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Northern England is the only other place in the world you are likely to hear the word Nebby used. In Northern England Neb is a regional word that goes all the way back to old English meaning beak or nose. So that makes sense but, There doesn’t seem to be any solid explanation as to why just here in Pittsburgh we picked up the word and the rest of the country didn’t? What do you think? Thanks for watching.
