The Pittsburgh Steelers announced a donation to the Pittsburgh Police Fund as part of the Steelers Social Justice Grant program to help support community efforts. The donation was presented today to Pittsburgh Police Chief Scott Schubert at the Church of the Holy Cross.
Today’s announcement included a check to Pittsburgh Police Fund for a total of $20,000, which included a donation from Maurkice Pouncey as well as from the Steelers organization. I know it’s a cliché thing to say the NFL is giving money, but these organizations, with what they are trying to do for people, they need the money,’ said Pouncey.
“It’s about changing lives. I like getting involved. It’s not just about writing a check. It’s about giving your time, showing up, being involved and letting people know you care just like everybody else: it gives you a sense of hope that people are committed to your cause,’ said Chief Schubert.
“We do this every day and when you have people trying to help, who have that ongoing commitment, it becomes like a partnership with that person. It makes our jobs easier. With what he is doing with the tickets every game, there is no way we could do that without him.”
