Steelers – “All of the roads lead to this one moment.” The words of Coach Tomlin.
The hour glass of making the 53 man roster will run out tomorrow for many of the players on the Pittsburgh Steelers preseason roster and as Coach Tomlin says, “All of the roads lead to this one moment.” Thursday’s preseason game is the last opportunity for players to state their case and make the team’s 53 man roster. This week was another preseason simulation week that Coach Tomlin calls a short week as the team has a limited amount of time to prepare for Thursday nights away game against the Carolina Panthers. Coach Tomlin spoke to us after practice on Tuesday and tells us that there is a sense of urgency felt with in the group due to the last chance to shine and the short week. Coach tells us that Ben R Ben Roethlisberger will not play in this game and that does make sense since the coaching staff is still evaluating Joshua Dobbs and Mason Rudolf for the backup position to Ben Roethlisberger . We spoke with both mason Rudolf and Joshua Dobbs. Joshua Dobbs will start at quarterback on Thursday.
The decision on 2nd string quarterback has not been made as of yet and Thursday’s game will have a lot of weight in the decisions that come after this week. Diontae Johnson is looking forward to getting more reps in Thursday night’s game. Diontae Johnson has dealt with injuries throughout some of the preseason. He did get a chance to show The Steelers what he could do in The 17- 7 win over the Kansas City Chiefs with his 3 catches for 46 yards.
Benny Snell will play in Thursday’s game and he says that he is now 100% and in Benny Snell football you take the full workload in every game.
Ulysees Gilbert III is ready for the game and when we caught up with him in the locker room he told us that he will take the final preseason game just as he has the first three.
That final preseason game is Thursday night at 7:00pm. Thanks for watching.
