PITTSBURGH — The Steelers have signed wide receiver Tyler Simmons to a one-year contract, it was announced today.
Simmons was originally signed in 2020 by Houston as an undrafted free agent out of Georgia. He was waived by the Texans on Sept. 5 but signed to the Houston practice squad on Sept. 7.
Simmons played four seasons at the University of Georgia (2016-19), where he racked up 35 receptions for 438 yards (12.5 avg.) and three TDs. He rushed for 220 yards on 17 carries (12.9 avg) and two TDs over 48 games (12 starts). Simmons added nine punt returns for 143 yards (15.9 avg.). He was part of a Bulldogs’ senior class that won 44 games, which tied for the most in school history.
