This weekend at The palace Theater, The Westmoreland Symphony Orchestra and Laurel Ballet Company will be holding performances for The Nutcracker Ballet. Going to see a performance of The Nutcracker this time of year has always been one of those special holiday traditions. We received some wonderful behind the scenes footage and interviews.
The 25th year anniversary of Nutcracker collaboration between the Westmoreland Symphony and the Laurel Ballet Performing Company and the 50th year anniversary of the symphony. It’s the only Nutcracker in the Pittsburgh region with a full live orchestra.
This year’s production includes a spectacular growing Christmas tree and a live-action sword fight between two fencing masters.
Eleanor Tornblom is Artistic Director and choreographer of the production. The principal dancers include Dr. Juraj Adamek, formerly of the Tamburizans and Alan Obuzor, of Texture Contemporary Dance, will be returning to dance the role of the cavaliers.
